Education: Michigan State University
Dr. Amy Keyt grew up in Marine City, MI with her parents and younger brother. She knew at 8 that she wanted to be a veterinarian and her life has been dedicated to achieving that goal. She graduated from Michigan State University in 2003 with a Bachelors degree in Animal Science and then her doctorate of veterinary medicine in 2010. She worked initially in a mixed, mostly equine practice, for a short time after graduating and then spent almost 6 years in a large animal practice. She started in June 2016 at Sheridan Animal Hospital and is excited to get to know the patients and clients of this practice!
Dr. Amy specializes in alternative therapies, chiropractic and acupuncture, and practices these on all species. In 2012 she attended the Veterinary Spinal Manipulative Therapy course (chiropractic) in WI; The Healing Oasis and Wellness Center. She is certified nationally in VSMT. In 2014 she became trained in Chinese acupuncture from the Chi Institute in Florida. She is currently working on her certification. At this time, she is taking Chinese herbal courses through the Chi Institute and is offering herbal treatments in conjunction with acupuncture. She has seen the benefits of these modalities in many patients and uses them in combination with traditional medicine and alone. If you haven’t guessed, continuing education for veterinary medicine is very important to her so going to meetings and learning new techniques or treatments is something she does regularly. She strives to be able to provide the best for her patients and staying current and educated is a must!
Aside from work, Dr. Amy enjoys her laying hens and Nigerian dwarf goat, Blueberry. She has had horses in the past and trail rides. She loves being outside with her animals, gardening and enjoying kayaking; a recent hobby.
